Developed at the Faculty Engineering of University of Porto, this method is efficiently used to encapsulate Perovskite Solar Cells and Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells in-between two glass substrates, protecting the devices from leakage and harm from moisture or air. The hermeticity complies with the Mil-Std-883H, delivering unprecedent long-term stability, which is critical for the industrialization of second and third generation photovoltaic cells.
This is the first commercial version to seal circular or square-shape solar cells up to 10 x 10 cm2. The ability of sealing at low temperatures (down to 65 ºC) and controlled atmosphere is ideal for Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells and Perovskite Solar Cells. The Laserbox allows: compression control; automatic alignment through pattern recognition; mitigation of defects aided by Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms; laser power control; PTZ Camera to record sealing videos.

When using one laser, sealing will be achieved down to 120 ºC; if we employ two lasers, the sealing can be done down to 65 ºC.
